2010 Conference- Call for Proposals

New Video Horizons: Options and Opportunities
Deadline for proposals is April 1, 2010.
The Association of Higher Education Campus Television Administrators (AHECTA) is now accepting presentation proposals for its 2010 Annual Conference, to be held June 16-18 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The 2010 theme is “New Video Horizons: Options and Opportunities,” as we look at technical and programming issues, challenges, and advancements that affect campus video in the distribution and production arenas.
Please note that submission of a proposal does not guarantee acceptance/inclusion of the presentation in current conference planning or in the final conference agenda.

About Conference Presentations
The AHECTA Annual Conference draws attendees from a multitude of institutional departments, depending on the integration of each cable system. Past and current institutional representatives range from telecommunications engineers, information technology experts, video programmers, and student service administrators.
From our recent “change in scope memo:”
As technologies change, so does our focus in providing these services to our respective educational environments. With the convergence of traditional video and networking, we are seeing the need to expand our organization’s scope to reach beyond traditional cable TV services to include videoconferencing, streaming video, digital signage, lecture capture, and more.
Under these guidelines, AHECTA seeks to include informative sessions highlighting new technologies and the effects of these technologies on campus networks.
Based on feedback from our members this year’s conference will return to a mixed format of General Sessions and two concurrent tracks: 1) Technology and 2) Programming and Operations.
General Sessions cover topics affecting all constituents involved with campus video initiatives. These sessions are typically 75 minutes in length.
Concurrent Sessions cover topics falling in line with the “Technology” and “Programming and Operations” tracks. These sessions are 60 minutes in length.
Proposals can be submitted for single "full-session" presentations, or individuals can offer to serve as a "panelist" on a topic relevant to the attendees of the conference. If an individual submits a proposal to be a "panelist," the AHECTA Conference Committee will work to place panelists together based on topic relevance.
