A Celebration of AHECTA Student Video Makers

In the fall of 1998, AHECTA Executive Board member, Peter Conover had a vision. He wanted to recognize the hard work and dedication of students involved in the college cable television stations at AHECTA member institutions by showcasing their video productions and presenting awards in several categories of programming. The awards and institutional participation have grown over the last seven years, receiving positive response from AHECTA institutions. We build on that tradition with this year’s Student Production Awards competition.

The Student Production Awards are open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at AHECTA member institutions. The competition is judged by individuals selected from AHECTA institutions whom review all submissions and choose the best for recognition. No judging committee reviews a category that has submissions from their own university.

This year, AHECTA is excited to be shining a spotlight on the Best Student Run Campus TV Network. Does your campus channel have what it takes to be the best? Email questions about this category to info@mtvU.com.

IMPORTANT INFO TO REMEMBER:

• Entries will be accepted starting March 15, 2006.
• Entries MUST be received by June 2, 2006.
• Best Student Short, Best News Feature, and Best Sports Feature all carry a $500 cash prize.
• All entries must be submitted in a DVD format and include a :30 second tease version.
• All entries must be no longer than 3:00 minutes in total length.
• Winners will be announced at the 9th Annual AHECTA Campus Cable Conference this June 2006.

Deadline: June 2, 2006 – DVDs will not be returned.
