AHECTA/ACUTA Audio Seminar
Thursday, May 8, 2008
1:30 - 3:00pm EDT

Register Now!

AHECTA is pleased to announce a partnership with ACUTA to host the association's very first Audio Seminar!

This pilot project represents a new and added benefit of membership to AHECTA and is an extension of the valued content delivered and discussed at the annual conference.

To participate, simply complete the on-line registration form. The discounted member registration fee of $69 per site will apply and there is no limit on the number of people who can participate from each location.

Presenters Brian Gorski (The William Paterson University of New Jersey) and Bob Peterson (Blonder Tongue Laboratories) will give an overview of the DTV Transition and what is occurring. Included in the presentation will be a discussion on the implications of the transition on the cable environment and industry; issues that higher education environments need to address to comply with the FCC-mandated upgrade; partnering between IT and Cable/Television groups on campus; and the impact of the transition on student and residential users.

AHECTA would like to acknowledge the sponsorship of this
audio seminar by Blonder Tongue Laboratories

HOW THE AUDIO SEMINAR WORKS AND HOW TO REGISTER

Via convenient conference call technology, you will be able to listen to the presenters and ask questions of the presenters. All you need is a phone. An unlimited number of colleagues at your institution or company may listen in via speakerphone at no extra charge.

Your registration fee includes:

  3. The toll-free dial-in telephone number will be provided in your confirmation e-mail. (Toll-free dialing is available for registrants in the US and Canada only. Others will be provided with a toll number to call.)

PRESENTERS

Brian John Gorski is the Supervisor of Broadcast Operations and heads Campus Cable & Satellite Operations at The William Paterson University of New Jersey. Brian has been with the University since February 2003, and oversees the daily operation and maintenance of the university's expansive cable system, which includes several sub-campuses. Brian spent over 4 years as an On-Duty Engineer for Bloomberg, L.P. Television & Radio in Manhattan at their world headquarters. He worked as an international satellite broadcast technician at Kelly Broadcast Systems, which changed hands to Echo-Star Communications, better known as Dish-Network as he was leaving. He has done freelance work for CNBC, and held an internship with Fox News Channel. He holds a bachelors degree in arts and communications from The William Paterson University of New Jersey with a concentration in Radio, Television & Film Production. He is now preparing the campus' cable system for the digital transition.

Robert Peterson is the Director of Educational Sales at Blonder Tongue Laboratories. Bob has been in the cable industry since 1982. He served as an Assistant Chief Engineer at Spectradyne, Inc., for 11 years where he was responsible for creating new CATV, 23ghz and 18ghz microwave link designs for various hotel chains such as Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton. Following his tenure with Spectradyne, Bob joined ICS, a start-up private cable company, funded by Rupert Murdoch, Michael Milken, MCI, and the Adelson family. As Director of Engineering, Bob was responsible for guiding a staff of 45 engineers and project managers in the design and installation of cost-effective systems that enabled ICS to stay competitive in the PCO operator market. ICS grew to one of the nation's largest PCO operators in the MDU market during Bob's 3-year tenure. Bob has been employed for over 11 years by Blonder Tongue Laboratories and currently is Director of Educational Sales. He has spent many hours informally educating end user customers from the industry and now is using those skills for more formal training with the seminar offering that will assist consultants, engineers, etc., with specifying systems that provide the best picture quality even after the digital transition.
